Vodafone Idea (Vi) has set out to launch its long-awaited 5G network from March next year. As reported by Economic Times, the telco said it expects to kick off its 5G rollout across 17 cities in India.

Following Jio and Airtel, who have already deployed their own 5G networks over the majority of the nation, Vodafone Idea is getting set to introduce its 5G service. Despite testing its 5G technology for a few years,

Vodafone Idea still offers 3G and 4G services in India. The company is currently testing its 5G services, which will be launched soon. It is also working to expand its 4G network.

As part of its revival plan, Vi raised ₹24,000 crore through equity funding, including ₹18,000 crore from a follow-on public offer

The carrier will have 15,000 5G sites by April, major cities in 17 circles to be covered. Vi is also considering fixed wireless access to monetize 5G

Vodafone Idea plans to launch 5G services in 17 circles by March 2025, starting with Delhi and Mumbai. The telecom operator also aims to expand its 4G coverage to reach 90% of India's population by June next year.
