A Popeyes worker in Philadelphia who was being attacked by a customer stabbed the attacker in self defense, police said.

An angry customer fighting with fast food workers over his Popeyes order wound up stabbed inside the North Philadelphia restaurant Tuesday night, police said.

It’s been years since the popularity of Popeye’s signature Chicken Sandwich led to all kinds of hype and violence out in these streets and though things have calmed down since then, some people still don’t know how to act when stepping into the fried chicken establishment.

The customer had "some sort of dispute" over his Popeyes order before assaulting employees, according to Chief Inspector Scott Small.

A 28-year-old man who strangled an employee at a North Philadelphia Popeye's earlier this week was arrested, police said on Thursday.

At some point, police say the suspect forced his way inside, grabbed the employee around the neck and started choking him.

A 28-year-old man has been charged with choking a Popeyes restaurant employee, who, police say, responded in self-defense by stabbing his alleged attacker with a pocket knife late Tuesday in the city’s Ogontz section.
