Karthik Subbaraj mentioned that both films were still in their early stages and the script was ‘basic’ when he pitched them to Rajnikanth.

Subbaraj stated that he first shared the ideas for his films "Jigarthanda Double X" and "Mahaan" with Rajinikanth.
