Luca Guadagnino is in final talks to direct a new adaptation of “American Psycho” for Lionsgate, the company announced on Friday. Scott Z. Burns is writing the script adapting Bret Easton Ellis’ novel. Rather than a remake, the film will be a new adaptation of Ellis’s novel.

The auteur has announced that he is in final negotiations for a new interpretation of iconic novel “ American Psycho ,” which was first brought to the screen in 2000. Christian Bale led the original film alongside Guadagnino’s frequent collaborator Chloë Sevigny.
